A sermon given on September 16, 2007 on Luke 7:28-35.
The repentance of St. John the Baptist is about how we, as Christians, can put on truth and the Lord Jesus Christ through living a life of repentance. St. John the Baptist was not included in the kingdom of God; he needed the Blood of our Lord Jesus Christ to be renewed. He did not put on his own righteousness, but God's righteousness. How often do we put on our own righteousness, and not God's? Repentance allows us to put on Jesus Christ, Himself, and is a daily renewal to the image of our Lord Jesus, which is ultimately what God wants for us. If you are wondering about the true meaning of repentance, then this sermon is for you.
